The increasing coverage and image quality of the television FTA (Free-to-air) broadcasting to the more secluded area pushed the number of television sets sales. Moreover, the increasing number of local and national broadcaster channels driven into each area has grown drastically in Indonesia. Currently, there are 11 (eleven) national broadcaster and at least 15 (fifteen) local broadcaster. The demand for television sets continues to show growth. |
Consumer Electronic sector is a US$5B industry in 2007, including handsets & MP3s. Traditional CE & appliances alone is a US$2.3B industry. Industry projected to an estimation of at least US$6B in 2008. Growth in low-margin but high-volume CRT-TV is expected to slow down but high growth in high-margin categories (e.g. LCDs, home appliances, computers, printers and digital cameras) expected to continue growth. Audio sales decreasing but high growth in portable audio devices (e.g., MP3 players) not reflected in market survey.
